Are incandescent bulbs banned?

No. You can still use and purchase incandescent bulbs. The new light bulb law does, however, ban the selling and manufacturing of common household incandescent bulbs that are not energy-efficient, which is why you will no longer be able to find 100 watt incandescent bulbs as of 2012. In January 2013, 75 watt bulbs will be phased out. In 2014, the 60 and 40 watt bulbs will be phased out.
