How do I install low-voltage lighting in my yard?

It's a pretty easy task.  Here are some tips:

• Plan where you’ll place your lights. Use colored stakes or colored flag markers in your yard to mark where each light will go.
• Make sure your lights are placed away from obstacles, since you’re going to need to get cable to them as easily as possible.
• Plug your transformer into an outdoor outlet that’s in the middle of your light plan.
• Dig trenches from the transformer to each light location. Use an edging tool. It’s easy to handle and will get your cable deep enough to be covered once you’re done.
• Run your cable from your transformer to each light in the trenches you dug.
• Connect your lights to the cable.
• Connect your cable to the transformer.
• Check your lights to ensure they’re on and everything is working properly.
• Once you’re sure all of your lights are operating correctly, tamp the earth down over your trenches with your feet.

Be sure to keep track of the wattage you are using in case you plan on installing more low-voltage outdoor lights.
