Westlake Ace Hardware and The Salvation Army raise funds to give more than 9,000 fans to those in need.

Kansas City, MO – July 13, 2018  Westlake Ace Hardware recently partnered with The Salvation Army for a fan drive to benefit their local communities and help those in need beat the summer heat.

In the span of just 18 days, a record-setting $118,000 was raised for the charity. That money was used to purchase 8,473 fans. Westlake donated an additional 575 fans for a grand total of 9,048 fans. All fans purchased will stay in the local communities. One-hundred (100) Westlake Ace Hardware locations throughout the country hosted fan drives by asking customers to donate to The Salvation Army from June 7 – 24.

“Westlake is not just about selling hardware. We are about living our core values of service, respect, and passion every single day and making a difference in people’s lives,” said Joe Jeffries, president and CEO of Westlake Ace Hardware. “The annual fan drive and our partnership with The Salvation Army gives us a chance to positively impact those in our community who are in the most need. The fact this campaign helped raised more than $118,000 this year speaks volumes for the generosity of our customers and the passion of our associates in the communities we serve.”

The Salvation Army served nearly 25 million Americans in 2017, which included cooling stations in the summer months, essential services at every major disaster, holiday assistance for struggling families and 54 million meals for the hungry.

“Our partnership with Westlake Ace Hardware continues to empower Salvation Army units all over to give that most important relief of cool air on a hot day.” said Lt. Colonel Ward Matthews, The Salvation Army Secretary for National Community Relations and Development. “We’re grateful for Westlake’s commitment to meeting human needs during the sweltering summer months.”
