KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 14, 2017- Westlake Ace Hardware announced today it has entered into an agreement to acquire Seaboard Ace Hardware in Raleigh, N.C. It is anticipated this purchase will be completed on February 19, 2018. According to Westlake, it will be a seamless transition of ownership and the store will retain the Seaboard Ace name, management, store personnel, and the current product mix.

Located in the heart of Raleigh at 802 Semart Dr. #112 in the historic Seaboard Station area, Seaboard Ace Hardware was founded in 2006. It is designed to be a modern hardware store that truly serves the needs of its urban customer base, while retaining the spirit of community involvement of neighborhood general stores from the early to mid 20th century.

Seaboard Ace Hardware will continue to sell traditional hardware products such as fasteners, tools, plumbing and electrical supplies. Additionally, the store features a full range of grills and BBQ accessories from Weber, Traeger and Big Green Egg, Stihl outdoor power equipment, Benjamin Moore paints, and a full line of poultry feed and accessories for urban chicken farming hobbyists.

With this acquisition, Westlake will own and operate nine retail hardware locations in North Carolina. In 2016, Westlake acquired the two Ace Hardware of Raleigh stores: North Ridge Shopping Center (6196 Falls of Neuse Road) and Falls River Shopping Center (10930 Raven Ridge Road).

In September 2017, Westlake acquired Outer Banks Ace Hardware and its six locations in Avon (42000 Highway 12), Corolla (822 Ocean Trail), Grandy (6704 Caratoke Highway), Kitty Hawk (4132 North Croatan Highway), Manteo (300 US Highway 64), and Nags Head (2718 South Croatan Highway).

“Westlake’s expansion in the great state of North Carolina exemplifies our strategy of acquiring businesses that share the same core values of customer service and integrity that we do. We also look forward to continuing the great tradition of community involvement started by Seaboard Ace Hardware,” said Tom Knox, CEO of Westlake. “As Westlake expands, our goal will never change – always strive to be the best, most helpful hardware stores on the planet.”

According to Bob King, owner of Seaboard Ace Hardware, “The sale to Westlake Ace Hardware makes sense for us on many levels. Not only did we feel it was time to pass the baton, we wanted to make sure the new owners were well established, focused on continuity—and above all else—shared our philosophy of superior customer service and community involvement.”
