How do I safely install holiday lights?

To begin, check the lights to make sure each strand is in good working order. After your lights are checked, connect an extension cord to a 120-volt power outlet. Mark the location where it reaches.

Next, measure the strands and mark the spots where the lights will hang on the exterior of the home.

Use a sturdy ladder to help prevent falls. A helper should always be present on the ground for safety purposes.

Connect the strands of lights. Make sure to connect all strands of lights together before climbing the ladder. Your helper should feed the light strands to you.

Hang the lights by attaching light clips to the markings made on the house.

To make your holiday decorating easier, plan ahead and make sure you have everything you need. Be sure to take every safety precaution before installing your holiday lights.
