How much energy will these new light bulbs save?

According to U.S. Department of Energy estimates, U.S households will collectively save close to $6 billion by 2015 as a result of the new regulation.

You'll save money in three ways: 1) you'll use less electricity to get the same light output 2) since new bulbs emit less heat you'll lower your cooling system bill in the summer and 3) they last longer so you'll have to change them less often.
